about

‘All The King’s Men’ is a ukulele-based, joyfully retro escapade into the realms of domestic bliss. Fields composed the majority of the song while riding shotgun on a car trip out to the country, and wrote the bridge section a few days later on her bicycle as she pedalled the neighbourhood streets. This sense of forward momentum characterises the tune, as does Fields’ penchant for vivid imagery, as she sings “I want to put your kiss in a Tupperware container / Take it home with me so that I can taste it later”.

Track Name: All The Kings Men (Single mix)
Rest your head on my chest
Close your eyes
We are not world weary
Tonight

Pillow talk, bedroom eyes
You are mine
By the lime neon light
Of the time

Oh, my home fires burn so brightly
With a flame that I light nightly
All the king’s men and the king’s horses
Riding for our hearts

Draw the blinds, dim the lights
Lets recline
Lay between sheets like filo pastry
You’re good enough to eat

Oh, my home fires burn so brightly
With a flame that I light nightly
All the king’s men and the king’s horses
Riding for our hearts

Wanna put your kiss in a Tupperware container
Take it home with me so that I can taste it later

Oh, my home fires burn so brightly
With a flame that I light nightly
All the king’s men and the king’s horses
Riding for our hearts
